Tender released to upgrade DEC air condition system
Media Release - Thursday 30 March 2017
The Darwin Entertainment Centre is set to become a whole lot cooler after City of Darwin today issued a public tender for the upgrade to a new air conditioning system at the venue.
The scope of the project includes material supply and delivery, construction, testing, quality assurance and commissioning of the work.
Lord Mayor Katrina Fong Lim said plans for this upgrade came after the air conditioning plant for the Darwin Entertainment Centre experienced critical failure in 2015.
“The air conditioning system at the Darwin Entertainment Centre has well and truly reached the end of its useful life, lasting over 30 years,” the Lord Mayor said.
“This is a significant upgrade to the venue and the project will not only support the local arts community but will also create jobs and stimulate the local economy.
“City of Darwin is committed to supporting the Darwin Entertainment Centre and maintaining it as a top arts, cultural and entertainment venue in Darwin.
“Every year the Darwin Entertainment Centre features an array of fantastic theatre acts, attracting hundreds of show-goers. We want to ensure we provide a facility which continues to attract top-class acts from around the world for many years to come,” she added.
The request for tenders will close on Thursday 11 May 2017. The tender documents are now available from the City of Darwin Tenders Portal: darwin.nt.gov.au/council/tenders-and-eoi.
