Council's Tender Process

Council actively encourages competition in an endeavour to achieve the best cost/value ratio per dollar spent.  In doing so Council will give fair and equitable consideration to all prospective suppliers wishing to do business with Council.    

To assess best value, all price and non-price factors that are significant to the specific procurement activity need to be considered.  These may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Price;
  • Performance;
  • Technical expertise;
  • Quality;
  • Financial stability;
  • Timeliness;
  • Compliance; and
  • Local Factors.

Within the tender process, it is Council’s preference to assess best value through the use of a tender evaluation team approach combined with a weighted scored assessment criteria.

Council tenders are advertised on its website and in the NT News usually on a Thursday and using other forms of advertising as appropriate.  

Request for Tender Documents may be obtained from the City of Darwin electronic tendering portal which can be found on the Tenders page of the City of Darwin website

Enquiries should be referred to the Contracts Administrator on 08 8930 0631 or by email to Tenders must be lodged electronically through the Electronic Tender Portal and must be received in the electronic tender box prior to the prescribed closing time.

Any canvassing of Elected Members or Council Staff in relation to this contract shall result in the tender being automatically disqualified. Council reserves the right to accept or reject any tender.
