Thanks to everyone who participated in this consultation!

Street food enterprises are growing in popularity and demand locally and nationally. Our draft Street Food Policy seeks to promote an active, vibrant street food culture in Darwin. Factsheet. We are seeking feedback from the community to ensure our policy settings are relevant and reflect the community’s needs.

Our aim is to ensure diversity of options, innovation, quality and sustainability in a way that adds economic and cultural value to the city by activating public places.

Through the community consultation process, we will explore ways to ensure equity of access to public spaces for street food vendors and to ensure the policy captures the community’s wishes. A total of 18 street food vendor sites are currently available across five locations in Darwin. The site allocation process, permit requirements and assessment criteria are set out in the draft Street Food Policy.

We are looking for feedback from existing and potential new traders, those who enjoy Darwin’s current scene and those who live near to the five locations. Have your say on how you would like to see the increasingly popular street food movement develop in Darwin.

If you would like to speak with someone about the Draft Street Food Vending Policy, please send you details in an email to darwin@darwin.nt.gov.au with the words Street Food in the subject line.

Please provide your feedback before Friday 4 September 2015.
