Australia Day Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2017 Citizen of the Year Awards.

You are invited to nominate a friend, family member, colleague or community leader for the City of Darwin Citizen of the Year Awards.

Each Australia Day (January 26), the City of Darwin hosts a Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony which will be at the Darwin Convention Centre in 2017. At the event, the following Australia Day awards are announced

  • Darwin Citizen of the Year Award
  • Darwin Young Citizen of the Year Award - aged 29 years or under
  • Darwin Community Event of the Year Award

Who is eligible?

The awards are there to recognise individuals and groups who have contributed above and beyond to the community. Anyone can be honoured by receiving these awards, but someone has to nominate them first.

Do you know anyone who has given outstanding service to the community? Or have you been involved in a specific community project which deserves recognition?

Nominate someone who you believe makes the City of Darwin a better place to live, through an ongoing contribution or an outstanding effort during 2016.
